Being a tutor is a very rewarding experience, and most of our tutors believe they get much more out of it than the students do; however, their students would beg to differ!
Make the decision to help dreams come true by donating to the Wichita Adult Literacy Council or by becoming a WALC tutor. Your choice to reach out and help a person achieve literacy will not only last their entire lifetime, but will positively impact the lives of their children, parents, friends and neighbors for years to come.
Wichita Adult Literacy Council loves volunteers! Without volunteers we wouldn’t be able to help nearly as many individuals; in fact we currently have over 100 students and tutors working one-on-one to reach individual literacy goals. WALC also offers health literacy classes, financial literacy classes, and ESL classes through Region 9 at our location.
Our volunteers serve in many capacities. We have tutors who help students in basic literacy, math, ESL, GED preparation, and citizenship. We often have a waiting list for students to be matched with tutors, and some of our tutors work with multiple students.
