Carla Arinder, WALC Executive Director, is a veteran teacher of 23 years, and her master’s work is in Educational Administration. She’s been with WALC since 2019. She has five years’ experience running a non-profit in another state, as well as four years’ experience running a for-profit organization, also in another state. Her greatest desire for WALC’s students is that they reach their educational goals and have fun in the process. Also, her 35 years as a Pastor’s wife taught her that people need encouragement to flourish and guidance along the way. Carla is excited to bring this thinking to WALC.

Ronda Hare, the Administrative Assistant, has strong people skills and can handle anything she is given, as is evidenced by how she has effectively taken on any and every job needed. Ronda assists the Exec Director with the planning of all events and the execution of the details with ease. She has 30 years’ experience as an office manager and has previously served as a WALC tutor. She moves from task to task without missing a beat…is persuasive and is every scammer’s worst nightmare...the perfect admin! Ronda has been with WALC, as an admin, since 2019.

Carla Smith, the Bookroom Manager, is responsible for managing the donations made to the bookroom, which becomes the basis of WALC’s largest fundraiser, the Book Fair. She has been with WALC since 2018. She previously managed the Children’s Department at the Plano Barnes & Noble, and over the years also managed a Walden Books and a Borders. Her knowledge of marketing books as well as genre’s and authors gives her the ability to create a major fundraiser that is professional in presentation and successful in raising funds. She can also tell amazing stories of interactions with famous and infamous authors! You must hear the one about Janet Evanovich, a motorcycle and a white fringe jacket!
